2008 MWSC FIRE SC '92, '94 and '95 UNDEFEATED

2008 JFG TOURNAMENT FIRE SC '94

FIRE SC '94 travelled to Des Moines, Iowa for the 16th annual tournament last weekend in the snow and rain and played very well under the conditions.  Beating U14 C1 St. Croix. 1-0 in the opening game was great since it was a team that stayed at C1 as our team was demoted to C2 after last summer.  Game 2 featured team Omega Black from KS.  They had won the tournament last fall.  A 2-2 tie with many great chances by our team left us feeling good after a long day in sub 40 weather and snow and rain.  Game 3 needing a 3-0 win or better to guarantee making the playoffs and winning our bracket we played well and managed a 2-1 win against a strong Council Bluffs team.  We were all excited to hear that St. Croix had beaten Omega Black and we had won our group.

Semi Finals we had about 45 minutes to rest, eat and warm up in the car.  We played Chicago Strikers, the oldest club in Chicago in a great game.  0-0 at the end of regulation and overtime.  We went to the dreaded shoot out.  GK Kennie "the midget" Frick literally stopped 3 shots and one went over allowing just one goal and Mehan Bolton and Jessie Rivard calmly finished great shots for us and we advance to the "CHIP" as our team calls it.

The championCHIP was now just 40 minutes away and a rested KCFC team was waiting for us.  The game began with our team quickly finding out that 3 games in 6 hours takes a toll on the body.  We played hard but gave up 2 goals in the first half and 3 in the second half against a good team.  The JFG had 11 Minnesota teams at the U14 age group and we were the last team standing.
2008 NOMADS TOURNAMENT FIRE SC '92

FIRE SC '92 attended the NOMADS SHOWCASE in La Jolla, CA. The team travelling to its first none midwest tournament played hard and found that life on the west coast can be warm and sunny.

Game 1 featured the Laguna Hills Eclipse Team that is from a very strong club in SOCAL. The first half was evenly matched as the Eclipse managed a goal on a great header from a corner kick. As the second half went on the team gave up a penalty kick and a late goal on a long rang shot.

Game 2 we played the NOMADS host club at 8:00pm under the lights. Again giving up a first half goal on a corner kick the team played well but couldn't find any clear scoring opportunities. The second half both teams continued to play hard and the NOMADS pulled away again.

Game 3 SPARTA from Utah was the opponent and playing the 3rd game in less than 24 hours was going to be tough. The sun was shining and girls seemed ready to play. After a sluggish start to the game the girls found some confidence and guest player Chelsea Klemetsen put home a rebound to put FIRE SC '92 up 1-0. The team kept at it and just 5 minute before half time Chelsea scored again on a corner kick scramble.

The second half as our legs began to fade the SPARTANS received a penalty kick to close within one and score the tieing goal just a few minutes later. a 2-2 draw was a fine result and the team felt like it was starting to get used to playing together and outside again. The weekend was great the girls went surfing and had a great hotel just a block from the ocean. Breakfast with the ocean and beach was awesome.
2007 SHATTUCK'S THANKSGIVING FIRE SC '95
FIRE SC '95 sent two teams to the Shattuck's St. Mary's 4v4 Thanksgiving Tournament. Girls played 4v4 with no subs for 6 games. Teams were split into black and red teams. Red team consisted of Lara Steinhoff, Laura Stolz, Sky Finley, and Olivia Norman coached by Steve Stolz. Black team consisted of Alex McCord, Charlotte Hudgens, Taylor Johnson, and Gracie Fitch coached by Steve McCord.
The Black team claimed the tournament championship going 4-1-1 in tournament play. The team really clicked as the tournament went on scoring 14 goals and giving up none in the last three games of the event.
2007 TEXAS CUP FIRE SC '91
FIRE SC '91 attended the Texas Cup in Plano, TX just outside of Dallas. Held at Pizza Hut Park. The weather was very cold and rainy as the Minnesota weather followed them down there. The team tied 2 games and lost one in group play and had its 4th game cancelled due to weather.
Ajax(Mo) in the first game of tournament both teams played well into the second half when 1-1 score, FIRE SC '91 gave up two late goals losing 3-1. AU Capitals(TX) game ended in a 0-0 tie with FIRE SC '91 dominating play and having plenty of scoring chances but nothing making it past the goal keeper. Clearwater Chargers(FL) playing the winner of the group the team played well and tied 1-1, with a goal by Sydney Hase to tie the game.
2007 ORANGE CLASSIC FIRE SC '90

FIRE SC '90 with guest players from both '91 and '92 teams attended the Orange Classic Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale (FL).

The team went 1-1-1 in group play with great weather and wonderful game times.

Winning the first game 1-0(Mckenzie G FIRE SC '91) over Darlington Soccer Academy (GA).

Playing to a tie against Manatee Magic(FL) 1-1 (Danielle B FIRE SC '90) the team finished the game disappointed after dominating play in front of 30+ college coaches and giving up a goal with less than 1 minute to play to tie. The team entered the 3rd game knowing that a win and good goal differential were both needed to advance. Trailing 1-0 at halftime the team faded in heat and lost 4-1(Suz A FIRE SC '92) SCoring the lone goal.
